Multiple Levels

Introduction to English:

Foundations is an all-skills, standards-based program for beginning-literacy and low-beginning learners of English. It offers students an introduction to basic English for essential life skill situations and builds a language foundation for students by preparing them for the demands of today’s world.

Brief Description

AESL offers an active approach to the English language! Students learn English conversationally by talking with each other. The courses are for small groups or individual tutoring. AESL uses a student-centered methodology that features exercises and activities that require students to speak to and interact with each other. The courses are best-suited for young adults or older. Teachers and students enjoy the course materials because they make the classes fun and productive.

Level 1: Beginner course introduces the verb to “Be” in the present and past as well as in the present continuous. The simple present tense, simple past tense as well as the future using “going to” are also introduced.

Level 2: Upper Beginner course instructs in the use of other grammar such as count and non-count nouns, comparative of adjectives, superlatives, comparative of adverbs and the future tense using “will”.

Level 3: Intermediate course introduces the “present perfect tense” “present perfect continuous tense” Past perfect tense” and “Past perfect continuous tense”. Also explains the use of phrasal verbs, gerunds vs. infinitives and connectors.

Level 4: Upper Intermediate course introduces “Past models” Embedded questions” “present real, present unreal and past unreal conditionals” “reported speech” and “tag questions”.

Level 5: Grammar part “A”: Upper intermediate to Advanced grammar-based approach to promote the development of all language skills in a variety of ways.

Level 6: Grammar part “B”: Upper intermediate to Advanced grammar-based approach to promote the development of all language skills in a variety of ways.
